Manipulando ingeniosamente las convenciones del narrador omnisciente decimonónico y los clichés de la novela victoriana, Fowles construye un brillantísimo libro que, por un lado, relata una apasionante historia de amor y, por otro, propone una aguda reflexión sobre el sentido último de la literatura.
